Naveen Kaushik grew up in New Delhi. He took to acting in his later years, while studying at Delhi University. This led him to join Act One, an acclaimed theatre group, in 2002. With them, he underwent rigorous training in every aspect of the trade – acting, directing, writing and set design. Most of his talent as a theatre artist was reflected in street plays that the troupe performed in different states across India. Some of his memorable theatre experiences include: Sansadiya Samiti Ki Uthak Baithak, Mumbai Khabar, Dekh Main Phir Phir Aaunga, Kashmir, American Pilot. Years of training under Act One strengthened Naveen’s resolve to become an actor, and he decided to try his luck in cinema. In 2008, he got his first taste of the silver screen with the role of the protagonists lawyer in the smash hit Dev D.
In 2009, Naveen moved to Mumbai to kick off his Bollywood career. While accompanying a friend to Yashraj Studios, he decided to do a walk-on audition, and landed the role of Nitin Rathore in the critically acclaimed but underrated Yashraj Production Rocket Singh, Salesman of the Year. The role resulted in a nomination for the ‘Most Promising Newcomer – Male’ at the Star Screen and Filmfare Awards. And his collaboration with Yashraj has continued, as he was signed up to play the menacing Asht Arya in Yashraj Productions series Seven: The Ashshvamedh Prophecy (now playing on Sony Entertainment Television).
